EDCI 339 explores the evolution and effectiveness of distributed and open learning. The course emphasizes the importance of modality and pedagogy in improving access to education and investigates how digital communities enhance collaborative and individual learning. Through engagement with current literature and technologies, students critically examine open access and the impact of licensing on educational materials (Creative Commons, Copyright, etc). The course also fosters an understanding of online educational environments’ ethical and privacy considerations.
