Peer Response #1 – JiaoNing HuPeer

The following blog post responds to JiaoNing HuPeer’s post regarding Distributed & Open Learning, the various modes of learning, and digital literacy & Identity.

Firstly, I really enjoyed reading JiaoNing’s blog post as it showcased an excellent understanding about the core topics. It is fantastic to see that JiaoNing has a diverse background in various fields of study. His education in Art and Science and now Economics shows that he has extensive knowledge in fields that vary from each other greatly. In his blog post, JiaoNing highlights have technology has completely altered the education system, making it much more accessible for students. He continues to share how he prefers asynchronous learning. While I tend to prefer the traditional classroom learning compared to asynchronous learning, I can completely understand the importance of learning at one’s own pace to better absorb the educational content.

His statement regarding digital literacy is also timely in that it extends beyond technical aspects. In an era where there is so much invalid information, it is important to be able to judge whether the content you are viewing is reliable and to be able to work together in a virtual environment. JiaoNing continues to talk about Digital Identity and how he strives to keep a professional online-presence. Evidently, it’s challenging to present themselves professionally without losing their own uniqueness online is easier said than done, yet it is crucial for developing a complete digital image!

All the best,
