PEER RESPONSE # 4 –  Livia Alexander

The following blog post responds to Livia Alexander’s post regarding Pedagogy and Instructional Design in Digital Spaces.

Hello Livia! I thoroughly enjoyed reading your blog post and I appreciate how in-depth you went regarding Pedagogy and Instructional Design in Digital Spaces. It is nice to know that formative feedback is what you value the most from teachers. I agree that knowing the things that one has done well on a task can greatly provide a confidence boost as it reassures them that what they have done should be continued. At the same time, providing constructive feedback on how to improve one’s work can help one identify areas for growth and refine their skills. I believe proper guidance and feedback can help a student understand their strengths and weaknesses, giving them the opportunity to improve themselves. I’m curious if there was ever any specific feedback that you received from a teacher that was particularly stood out?

Livia believes that a teacher who sets up a well-organized course page, provides step-to-step instructions for specific tasks, and responds swiftly to emails will make an excellent teacher. I completely agree that a teacher who does the aforementioned tasks will make the learning experience much more smoother for the student. To add to these points, I believe that a instructor should also be enthusiastic about the topics they teach. Personally, the classes where the teacher truly enjoys the course material are the ones that make me passionate to learn. These are the classes where I enjoy attending everyday, rather than seeing it as just another requirement!

All the best,

Sai
