PEER RESPONSE #3 – Yacheng Hou

The following blog post responds to Yacheng Hou’s post regarding Distributed & Open Learning, the various modes of learning, and digital literacy & Identity.

Hello Kevin! Firstly, it’s nice to see your interests in a variety of different topics. I am also taking 5 courses this semester, so I completely understand how challenging it is to find extra time on your hobbies. But it looks like you have big plans after you finish this semester – exciting!

Like mentioned in your blog post, face-to-face learning has many advantages like increasing learning quality, avoiding plagiarism, and negative study. On top of this, face-to-face learning has other benefits such as cultural exchange. Learning in a room with a diverse population will expose an individual to different learning strategies and perspectives. By engaging with your peers on a daily basis, you will improve your thinking skills and make you understand how different people learn.

I really enjoyed reading about your opinions and point of view about digital identity. With the information overload that is on the internet, it is essential we learn how to distinguish between valid and invalid sources. Having the technical abilities to find the resources pivotal to our learning while evaluating its credibility will allow us to thrive in online settings. This not only makes our education enriching, it also helps make us ready for our professional careers, where finding accurate information is critical for making decisions. What are some ways you do to critically assess the credibility of an online source?

All the best,

Sai Bannur
